Die Wishing

There is one thing that I promised myself years ago. I will not "Die Wishing". What does that mean exactly? It means laying on your death bed and uttering the words "I wish...". I am determined to experience everything that life has to offer...maybe multiple times!

I am reminded how blessed I am after visiting a sick friend not too long ago. This is a friend I have known much of my life. He is now 40 years old and has never been on a plane. He has barely been out of the state he lives in. I think he is comfortable in his life...but there is so much he is missing. I have been to over 35 states and two countries. I am going to Europe in several weeks and will add nine more countries to this list. Please do not take this as bragging...it is not about that. It is about experiencing life to the fullest.

Get off your couch. Stop whining about how unfair life can be. You are only on this Earth a VERY short time. Make the most of it. Do not die wishing...

Until next time...

Hello Again

To anyone reading my blog, sorry it has been so long since I have posted. I have been very busy at work and just too tied up to write something.

A lot has happened in the last few weeks...like the fact that we have a new coach at UK! I cannot express how excited I am about John Calipari coming to UK. I had my doubts when I first heard that UK was looking for Calipari to take the helm of the biggest coaching job in college basketball. After watching the brilliant press conference yesterday, I have to say Calipari was the right man to take the job. He most certainly hit a home run with that press conference. Cal said all the right things, starting off with talking about Bill Keightley and inviting his family to the press conference...to recognizing Adolph Rupp's son (in the audience) to discussing his conversations with all the previous UK coaches. UK does not only want a coach who can "coach", but someone who will be a symbol and ambassador of the University of Kentucky. Coach Cal totally "gets it". I see lots of changes coming to the team...I think many players will have to transfer. I can think of three right away that will not fit into the new "dribble drive" offense that Coach Cal will bring in. Coach Cal is also one of the best (if not THE best) recruiters in the nation...so we will not have a problem putting a great team on the floor. Wow...I can't wait for November!!

Another thing that has happened in the last few weeks is that my wife and I planned a 16 day trip to Europe. We will fly to London, then visit nine countries over the course of the trip. It is going to be a total blast. I realize how blessed we are to be able to take a trip like this...especially at our age. The Lord has really taken care of us financially. I know I will be taking LOTS of pictures!!

Well, not much else happening right now...i will try to write again soon!

Until next time...
